Future Wastewater Projects

Basin 16 & 17, Riverside Pump Station - Wastewater Division staff is studying drainage basins 16 and 17 for infiltration and inflow. Staff is also replacing and sealing sewers in Basin 17 to make them more reliable and reduce infiltration and inflow that can cause wet weather overflows.

Use Attainability Analysis/Water Quality Study - The Wastewater Division has hired MEC Water Services to access the bacteriological impact on the Missouri River from the City's two treatment facilities. This study is being conducted in response to new water quality regulations that would require additional treatment facility upgrades above what were conducted from 2001-2003.

Collection System Rehabilitation
- Many sewers constructed in the 1890's and early 1900's are still in service. Some have deterioration due to age and external causes. To ensure system reliability, these pipe systems will be replaced or rehabilitated where necessary. Where possible, pipe systems will be rehabilitated or replaced by trenchless methods to minimize disturbance to ground surfaces and avoid the inconvenience of closing streets and pedways.
