Airport Advisory Committee (5 Year Terms)
Charged with making recommendations for the development and use of the airport.
Animal Shelter Advisory Committee (3 Year Terms)
Charged with investigating shelter needs and making recommendations for the development and use of the shelter.
Board of Adjustment (5 Year Terms)
Considers and decides applications for zoning appeals, variances and conditional use permits.
Meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 7:30 AM.
Convention & Visitor’s Bureau Board (3 Year Terms)
Charged with the general oversight of the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Meets monthly on the fourth Monday at 4:00 PM.
Cultural Arts Commission- (3 Year Terms)
Charged with educating and promoting public awareness of the value of arts in the community.
Electrical Examiners and Review Board (3 Year Terms)
Reviews and approves license applications and considers appeals of decisions by the electrical inspector.
Meets quarterly or as needed.
Members must have an electrical license for the City of Jefferson.
Environmental Quality Commission (5 Year Terms)
Considers and reviews issues or proposed ordinances which may impact the city’s environment and makes long term plans for assuring the environmental quality of the city.
Meets monthly on the third Thursday at 7:00 PM.

Oversees the City firefighters’ pension plan.

Historic Preservation Commission (3 Year Terms)
Safeguards and promotes the city’s cultural, aesthetic and architectural heritage.
Meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 6:30 PM.
Housing Authority (4 Year Terms)
Charged with the general oversight of the Housing Authority.
Meets as needed.
Human Relations Commission (3 Year Terms)
Promotes equality within the community through educational programs.

Serves as a catalyst for financial incentives for economic development.

Jefferson City Public TV Steering Committee (1 Year Terms)
Charged with directing and improving Jefferson City Public Television.

Library Board of Directors (3 Year Terms)
Charged with the operation, management, supervision, control and use of the Missouri River Regional Library.
Meets monthly on the third Tuesday.
Parks and Recreation Commission (3 Year Terms)
Charged with the operation, management, supervision, control and use of the city’s parks and recreation facilities.
Meets monthly on the second Tuesday at 4:30 PM.
Planning and Zoning Commission (4 Year Terms)
Considers all zoning issues brought to the City.
Meets monthly on the second Thursday at 5:15 P.M.
Plumbing Examiners and Review Board (3 Year Terms)
Reviews and approves license applications and considers appeals of decisions by the plumbing inspector.
Meets quarterly or as needed.
Members must have a plumbing license for the City of Jefferson.
Police Personnel Board (3 Year Terms)
Considers matters relating to hiring and promotional opportunities within the department as well as hears employee discipline appeals.
Meets monthly on the second Thursday at noon.
Tax Increment Financing Commission (4 Year Terms)
Charged with consideration of proposed specific redevelopment areas and the approval of redevelopment plans.
Meets as needed.
Transportation and Traffic Commission (3 Year Terms)
Considers, monitors and makes recommendations to the council regarding the city’s needs for proper transportation and traffic flow to, from and within the City.
University Extension Council (2 Year Terms)
Partners with the University of Missouri system to provide educational opportunities and technical advice to the citizens of Cole County.
Meets monthly on the first Thursday at 5:30 PM.
USS Jefferson City Submarine Committee (3 Year Terms)
Serves as the city’s liaison to the USS Jefferson City Submarine and approves expenditures for its support.
