ICE ARENA
The Washington Park Ice Arena offers a variety of public skating sessions throughout the week Public sessions are held on the following days and times: Monday and Wednesday from 4 – 5:30 p.m.; Friday from 12 – 1:30, 4 – 5:30, 6 – 7:30 and 8- 9:30 p.m.; Saturday from 2 – 5 and 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday from 2 – 5 p.m. Adult admission to public skating is $4, youth admission is $3, and skate rental is $2.
An Adult Fitness Skate is held Monday through Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Admission to fitness skate is $2.50 and skate rental is $2.
An Adult Stick and Puck session will be held Saturday, March 20 from 9 – 11 p.m. and Monday, March 22 from 9:15 – 11:15 p.m.. Admission to Stick and Puck is $8.
Promotional School Days are held at the Ice Arena to encourage and develop interest in ice skating among youth. The admission fee is $1 and skate rental, if needed, is $1. School sessions are held during weekday afternoon public sessions. School days pass cards have been distributed to all area schools and are good for up to four visits.
The Ice Arena is a great place to celebrate your birthday. Parties are scheduled during any of the public skating sessions. The birthday party package includes one and one half hours of skating, lunch, a custom made birthday cake for only $10 per child. A $20 cake deposit is required a week prior to the party. Birthday parties can accommodate a minimum of 5 children up to a maximum of 20. The birthday child is free. To reserve your birthday party, call 634-6580.

ICE SHOW
The 48th annual ice show, “Fashion Flashback”, will be held at the Washington Park Ice Arena April 9 – 11. This production will be a futuristic fashion extravaganza inspired by United States 20th century music and clothing styles. Performances include a variety of solos, duets and group numbers given by participants of the Parks and Recreation lesson programs and members of the Jefferson City Figure Skating Club.
“Fashion Flashback” will be presented at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 with a 2:30 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday, April 11.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for youth. The annual ice show is co-sponsored by Parks and Recreation, the Jefferson City Figure Skating Club, and KRCG.
ALL-STAR BASEBALL LEAGUE
Parks and Recreation and the Jefferson City Evening Lions Club sponsors a non-competitive baseball league for area kids ages 5 – 18 with physical and developmental disabilities or other conditions that keep them from participating in other baseball leagues. This league is designed to help every kid, regardless of age or ability, be successful and have fun.
The league is a six game season and is played Friday evenings in April through June. The $25 registration fee includes a game uniform. Registration deadline is April 2.
The success of the program is dependent on a large number of volunteers. Baseball buddies can be individuals or entire groups who help kids catch, throw, bat and run during the game. You can volunteer for one or all of the games, depending on your availability.

ADULT SUMMER SOFTBALL LEAGUES
Registration is now being accepted for adult summer softball leagues. Softball registration continues until April 12. Team registration fee is $350 with a $70 forfeit fee. Teams will play a ten game schedule. Leagues offered include Men’s B, C and D and Co-Recreation B, C, and D. Play begins the week of May 10.
HORSESHOE LEAGUE
The Capital City Horseshoe Club is gearing up for another season. Leagues are now forming for spring and summer for both singles and teams. Tournaments are held monthly through October with the first tournament scheduled for Saturday, March 27. All activities are held at the Washington Park Horseshoe Courts. Men, women, boys and girls of all ages and ability levels are welcome to participate, and instruction and equipment are available if needed. All participants must be members of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association and each league is $20. For more information, please contact Mel at 635-9394.
GARDENING CLASSES
A series of gardening classes will be held every Saturday in March from 10 a.m. – noon at the North Jefferson City Multipurpose Building. These classes are taught by Master Gardeners or MU Extension Specialists and will include class room presentation and hands on explanations. Some walking will be required and be sure to dress appropriately for weather.
Topics include: planting and growing warm season vegetables, March 20; and bugs, disease and weeds – managing pests, March 27. Registration fee is $5 for each class. Registrations are being accepted at the Parks and Recreation office.
DANCE CLASS
The Show-Me Boot Scooters offers beginning dance classes Monday evenings for six weeks at the McClung Park Indoor Pavilion. Dance taught include the two step, electric slide, waltz, ten step, triple step and more. Registration fee is $18 and classes begin March 29.
EASTER EGG HUNT
The Capital City Jaycees and Parks and Recreation are co-sponsoring the 24th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 20 at Memorial Park. This event is open to children ages 2 – 7 years of age.
The park will be divided into three sections for the hunt. Children ages 2 and 3 will begin their hunt at 11 a.m.; ages 4 and 5 at 11:10 a.m.; and the 6 and 7 year old will begin their hunt at 11:20 a.m. Parents will not be allowed in the hunting are except for the 2 and 3 year old area. Registration fee is $1 per child and will be accepted at the park the day of the event. All proceeds will benefit a local charity in Jefferson City.
CAPITAL CITY ADVENTURE RACE
The Capital City Adventure Race will be held Saturday, April 24. The race features paddling, mountain biking, hiking, and mystery events. This event is designed for beginners, but will provide an excellent challenge for experienced teams.
The Capital City Adventure Race is open to two-person teams (co-ed, male or female) and awards will be given to the first place team in each division. Entry fee is $150 per team with a registration deadline of April 2. All proceeds for the Adventure Race will go to the Parks and Recreation Department to benefit the construction and maintenance of bike trails in the Jefferson City area. OAK HILLS GOLF CENTER
The Oak Hills Golf Center is open daily, weather and course conditions permitting. The course opens at 7:30 a.m. through April. To reserve a tee time or to check course conditions, please call 634-6532.
Registrations are being accepted for beginning and intermediate adult golf lessons and junior golf camp. The first session of beginning golf lessons will be held in early April. Registration fee is $50 with a registration deadline of April 6.
SUMMER PROGRAM REGISTRATION
Registrations are now being accepted for a variety of summer programs including
swim lessons, day camps, youth sports, special events and more. Be sure to register early for your favorite activity. Many programs have enrollment limits and registration deadlines.
