The All-Star Baseball League is a non-competitive baseball league designed especially for children ages 5 to 18 years of age with physical or mental challenges. Every child will have the opportunity to hit, pitch and field each inning. Game rules are flexible so that every child will have the chance to play in an athletic environment structured to each child’s ability.
Jefferson City Parks and Recreation and the Jefferson City Evening Lions are offering a non-competitive baseball league in 2010 for Jefferson City area kids, ages 5-18, with physical and developmental disabilities or other conditions that keep them from participating in regular baseball leagues. Every child bats and fields in each inning and a "baseball buddy" will be available to help him/her.
The league is designed to help every child, regardless of ability, be successful and have fun! The league is currently forming and games will be played for six weeks on Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. starting April 30th.
Because of the special needs of many of our participants, we require that a parent, guardian or responsible adult remain in attendance with participant. While you are not expected to assist with running the program, you might be needed to assist with possible medical or behavioral issues.
The success of the program is dependent upon a large number of volunteers to help out. Baseball buddies can be individuals or whole groups in the Jefferson City area. Volunteering consists of helping a child during game play; catching, throwing, batting and running. You can volunteer for one or all of the games, depending upon your availability.
