Airport Frequently Asked Questions

Visit the Airport web pages for more information

Q: Which Airlines serve your Airport?

A: Jefferson City Memorial Airport does not have any scheduled commercial airline service. Our City is considered part of the Columbia air service market, and as such, receives our scheduled airline service through the Columbia Regional Airport, (three-letter identifier COU).  The Columbia Regional Airport is located 25 miles north of Jefferson City via U.S. Highway 63.  The service available at Columbia Regional Airport is provided by Air Midwest, under the name U.S. Airways Express.  They offer two daily round-trip flights to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and two daily round-trip flights to Kansas City International Airport. Connections can be made at those airports with most major airlines offering destinations nationwide.

Q: How much is a ticket to St. Louis?

A: The current advertised fare for flights out of Columbia Regional Airport to either St. Louis or Kansas City is $59.00 each way. This fare is for the

Columbia-St. Louis or Columbia-Kansas City portions of your flight only, and does not include any applicable taxes or passenger facility charges.

Q: Do you have any flights to Kansas City?

A: The Columbia Regional Airport offers two daily round-trip flights to Kansas City on U.S Airways Express.

Those flights depart Columbia at 9:00 a.m. and 5:20 p.m.

Q: What is your Airport's three-letter identifier?

A: The three-letter identifier for Jefferson City Memorial Airport is JEF. The four-letter ICAO Code is KJEF.  For Commercial Airline service use the Columbia Regional Airport three-letter identifier COU.

Q: Why doesn't the State Capital have scheduled airline service?

A: In 1979, the Department of Transportation designated all of Mid-Missouri as the Columbia/Jefferson City market and the Columbia Regional Airport as the market's primary service airport.  With that designation the FAA also recognized Columbia Regional as the primary air carrier airport for the region.  Because of these designations all commercial flights for this region are through the Columbia Regional Airport.

Jefferson City Flying Service is a full-service Fixed Base Operator, providing many services, including flight instruction.  They also specialize in Airframe & Power Plant Maintenance, Aircraft Rental and Charter, and Aircraft Management.  For information on services and rates for flight instruction contact Jefferson City Flying Service at (573) 636-5118.
