The Business License Division of the Finance Department enforces all provisions of ordinances of the City regulating the licensing of trades, businesses, vocations and occupations within the City, the licensing of peddlers, transient merchants, solicitors and canvassers within the City, and the licensing of the manufacture, distribution or sale of intoxicating liquor and nonintoxicating beer within the City.
The authorized agents of the Finance Department have the power to enter any business establishment in the City to determine if the provisions of all ordinances of the City pertaining to the issuance of licenses are observed.
Who needs a Business License
If you are planning to open a business or conduct any kind of business within the city limits of Jefferson City you will need to obtain a City Business License. You should apply for your business license at least two weeks prior to opening or conducting business.
