Country Club Drive

The Jefferson City Fire Department was dispatched to a possible working structure fire at the Wendy's Restaurant on Country Club Drive at the Capital Mall. Squad 5 reported heavy black smoke showing from the rear of the building upon arrival.
Fire companies entered the building and attempted a offensive attack in the interior of the building. Fire conditions progressively got worse and firefighters were ordered out of the structure and assumed defensive operations.
It took firefighters almost one hour to bring the fire under control. Two employees were transported by CREMS to a local hospital.
Engine 3, 4, Squad 5, Ladder 3, Asst. Chief 2, Asst. Chief 3, Training Off, Pub Fire Ed Officer, Fire Chief, and Air 1 with a total of 17 personnel on the scene. Six off duty fire personnel were called back to man additional apparatus while firefighters remained on the scene until 1p.m.
Missouri State Fire Marshal responded with two investigators and ruled the cause of the fire as accidental.
