Showdown Academy is an intensive, three week adventure into theater for 6th graders through 12th graders. It begins with morning classes where students choose three of the following: acting, directing, composing, stage movement, musical theater, dance, stage craft and playwriting. Afternoons are devoted to rehearsals for the full production. The program will end with an original show – making its mid-west premiere.
Cindy Marcus and Flip Kobler have sold screenplays to Paramount and Universal and wrote for “Deep Space Nine”. As Disney staff, they wrote “Simba’s Pride”, the sequel to “Lion King”, “Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas”, “Pocahontas Journey to a New World”, “Hunchback of Notre Dame II”, and others. Most recently they completed the script for “Doctor Doolittle 3” and are penning a new original movie for the Disney Channel.
Dennis Poore’s credits span the globe with European dance hits like “Strange Desire”, “Young Men”, Julie Brown’s “Cause I’m a Blond” and “Brand New Girl”, the film “Earth Girls are Easy”. Dennis was nominated for a Clio for his Chase-Manhattan Bank jingle. Dennis composed musicals “An American Cantata”, “The Tennessee Williams Cabaret”, “Wild Dust...The Musical” performed in New York, New Jersey, Florida and LA. Dennis worked with Liza Minnelli, Goldie Hawn & Joe Cocker.
Cindy Marcus, Flip Kobler and Dennis Poore are writing a new Totally Teen show for the teens of Jefferson City. Teens will get to put their stamp on a original show that will make it's World Premiere right here in Jefferson City. The teams' other Totally Teen shows: BROTHER'S GRIMM, USHER, JECKYL AND HYDES, THE ARGONAUTS and NOTTINGHAM have been published with Pioneer, the premiere house for young people's theater, and include the original cast - which could be you!
