Participants must pre-register at the Parks and Recreation office by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 14. Registrations will not be accepted at the track on the day of the event. Any changes to registration can be made the day of the event from 1:15 - 1:30 p.m. All participants need to submit a copy of their birth certificate to verify age. Age is determined as of December 31, 2009.
The Hershey Track and Field Youth Program is more than just a track meet. It is an excellent opportunity for boys and girls ages 9-14 to enhance basic running, jumping and throwing skills. Each participant may enter as many as three events. If participating in three events, at least one field event must be included. Running events vary for each age group (50 M to 1600M plus a 4 x 100 M relay). Contact Parks and Recreation for specific running events for your age group. Each age group will have the standing long jump and softball throw for field events. Starting blocks and track shoes or any shoe designated for spikes are not permitted.
All first place finishers at the local level will advance to the State Meet on June 26, 2009 which will be held at Jefferson City High School. State meet winners do not automatically advance to the North American Final. They are placed in a regional pool of state finalists and become eligible to be chosen for the North American Final. Each participant chosen for the North American Final receives an all-expense-paid trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania for four days where a schedule of fun-filled events are enjoyed, including the North American Final meet.
