What is Crime Prevention?

It is a pattern of attitudes and behaviors directed at reducing the threat of crime and enhancing the sense of safety and security. Crime prevention positively influences the quality of life in our society and fosters an environment where crime cannot flourish.

The JCPD Crime Prevention Program

The Jefferson City Police Department’s Crime Prevention Program is managed by Officer Kevin Kempker of the Operations Division under the direction of Captain Robert Clark

The Crime Prevention Program was implemented to help our community establish active Neighborhood Watch programs, assist businesses and home owners with preventing crime, and work with the Community Action Team to address neighborhood issues and facilitate problem-solving methods.

The Special Services Division is often present at safety fairs and other functions throughout the city to provide information on a variety of crime prevention topics.

Available Programs

The following list represents the various crime prevention programs that are available upon request.  Each program can be individually designed to meet your needs by combining or condensing topics.  Our goal is to present a program that will last approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour in length.  These programs are available, free of charge, to local schools and organizations within Jefferson City.
