It is a pattern of attitudes and behaviors directed at reducing the threat of crime and enhancing the sense of safety
and security. Crime prevention positively influences the quality of life in our society and fosters an environment where
crimecannot flourish.
The JCPD Crime Prevention Program
The Jefferson City Police Department’s Crime Prevention Program is managed byOfficer Kevin Kempkerof the Special Services Division under the direction of Captain Doug Shoemaker.
The Crime Prevention Program was implemented to help our community establish active Neighborhood Watch programs, assist businesses and home owners with preventing crime, and work with the Community Action Team to address neighborhood issues and facilitate problem-solving methods.
The Special Services Division is often present at safety fairs and other functions throughout the city to provide information on a variety of crime prevention topics.
Available Programs
The following list represents the various crime prevention programs that are available upon request. Each program can be individually designed to meet your needs by combining or condensing topics. Our goal is to present a program that will last approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour in length. These programs are available, free of charge, to local schools and organizations within Jefferson City.
A minimum of three weeks notice is required to request a presentation.
Available Literature
We have numerous brochures available for distribution. Some of the topics addressed in the brochures/newletters include home and vehicle security,drugs of abuse, personal safety, protecting your children, cyber safety, and different kinds of con and fraud schemes.
You can obtain such literature during normal business hours at the police department or our west field office location inside Capital Mall next to Capital Four Theaters.
