POLICE OFFICERS
The Jefferson City Police Department accepts applications from individuals who are career oriented; have a high school diploma or equivalent; are at least 21 years of age; possess a valid Missouri Drivers License with a good driving record; no felony convictions nor convictions of crimes of moral indecency; possess or be able to secure a Missouri State License as a Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer within six months of hire; and have the ability to work a rotating shift. Paid training for licensing, plus equipment and uniforms furnished. Females and minorities are encouraged to apply. Applicants must pass a written and physical test plus an extensive background and criminal history check before being considered. Monthly salary is $2,606-$3,908, not including holiday pay or lateral entry adjustments. Testing is held on a bi-annual basis, usually in the Spring and Fall.
Full-time police personnel must reside within 25 miles and 30 minutes of the City limits within one year of hire. COMMUNICATIONS OPERATORS
The Jefferson City Police Department accepts applications from career-oriented individuals to answer 911 emergency calls and dispatch emergency personnel on an ongoing basis. Extensive training is provided. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; one year experience as a telephone operator, dispatcher or related work preferred; the ability to type 35 wpm; good multitasking ability and good speech clarity. Availability to work ten-hour days and a rotating shift is a must. Applicants must pass a written test plus an extensive background and criminal history check before being considered. Monthly salary is $2,363-$3,544, not including holiday pay or lateral entry adjustments. Testing is held on a bi-annual basis, usually in the Spring and Fall.
