The City of Jefferson is implementing a code deficiency program to assist homeowners with exterior repairs to meet health and safety standards. The grant program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and designed to help low-to-moderate income owners residing in older neighborhoods.
Who is eligible?
- Homeowners who live in houses constructed before 1950 in Jefferson City.
- Homeowners who live in houses that need exterior repairs and do not meet city code. Eligible repairs include roofs, gutters, painting, windows, porches, and steps.
- Homeowners whose annual income is no greater than: 1 person = $36,100
2 persons = $41,300
3 persons = $46,450
4 persons = $51,600
5 persons = $55,570
How much assistance is available?
Maximum assistance per home is $5,000 total; $1,000 grant and $4,000 no interest loan. Loans will be secured by a deed of trust. If the owner remains in the property for five years after the repairs are complete, the loan will be forgiven.
How does the program work?
Assistance is provided on a “first come, first served” basis to eligible applicants. Download Homeowners Code Deficiency Program Application now or applications are available from City Hall from Community Development and Administration receptionist area.
Completed applications should be returned to Melva Fast at 320 E. McCarty.
