JEFFTRAN serves the Capital of Missouri, Jefferson City, with public transportation Monday through Friday all year round. Jefferson City has a population of 39,636 (2000 Census Data) but during the past twelve months we have served approximately 443,824 passengers. The boundaries of our city are influenced by natural barriers such as the Missouri River cutting diagonally across much of the city. However, most residents and businesses are located in the beautiful hills and valleys on the south bank of the river. Consequently, Jefferson City does not have a single center of business and industry. Over the years, businesses, hospitals, retail outlets, and enterprises of all kinds have arisen in all parts of the city. JEFFTRAN provides citizens which have no other means of transportation a way to shop, go to the doctor, visit a restaurant, get to a class, or arrive at work. And let's face it, with today's gas prices, JEFFTRAN is a great value for everyone!

During the remainder of the day bus pick-up service will be provided in those areas by calling JEFFTRAN Dispatch (634-6477) at least 30 minutes prior to the requested pick-up time. Please keep in mind when scheduling the call in requests that the bus departure schedule will still remain the same and the arrival time in the requested area is dictated by the departure time. All passengers returning to the Schott and St. Louis Rd areas will need to make an onboard request to the driver when boarding to return to those areas. If there are no requested drop-offs or pick-ups in the Schott Rd. area the bus will continue down US 50 to the McCarty St. exit to Wal-Mart east. Executive Order 13166: Improving Access to Service for Persons with Limited English Proficiency was signed on August 11, 2000 to clarify Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It had, as its purpose, the goal to ensure accessibility to programs and services to otherwise eligible persons who are not proficient in the English language. This order affected not only Federal agencies, but also state and local agencies. Not only do all federal agencies have to develop LEP Plans as a condition of receiving federal financial assistance, but recipients of federal funds, such as the City of Jefferson, must comply with Title VI and LEP guidelines of the federal agency from which funds are provided. Federal financial assistance including grants, training, use of equipment, donations of surplus property, and other forms of financial contributions from federal sources.
